Place me gently in your arms
And let me lay there, away from harm.
Outside, the world is cruel and cold.
The people of this place die too young, never growing old.
I do not care for the destruction that has engulfed the land,
Nor for all the deaths that were dealt by man.
I will not linger any longer in such a desolate place,
Instead I will wish only to see your face.
How long has it been since you left me, love?
How long have you been watching me from above?
No, I will not stay here any longer
I have given up trying to be stronger.
I will not cherish my last breath
For it keeps me from your tenderness.
So as I close my eyes for my final rest,
I have for you darling, only one request:
That you place me gently in your arms
And let me lay there, away from harm.
Well I'm kind of nervous since I've never let anyone read my poetry before...I hope you like it
